![]() I did recently change detergent, from Method Smarty Tabs to Finish Quantum but I'm not sure why that would matter in between loads. For example, the dishwasher is NEVER dry inside, even when it's been several days since a load was run. This is our first condensation drying dishwasher and as such, we don't really know what is considered normal. My plan is to call Bosch for service on Monday and have them check out our installation and perhaps give me some guidance on using the machine. The only other things in the D/W (and loaded at the same time) were a clear glass bowl that had contained the cut-up strawberries and 2 coffee mugs - none of which had mold. They had contained strawberry shortcake and were rinsed out and loaded into the empty dishwasher the night before we left. Up until today, our issue had only been with odor between loads but this morning (after being out of town for 4 days), we discovered 2 cereal bowls covered with mold. We've never had a problem with mold or odors with previous dishwashers but we're experiencing both with this new Bosch. These often sit in the dishwasher for 3 - 4 days between cycles and are rinsed well prior to loading. As a household of 2, we usually run the D/W twice a week and it generally contains only coffee mugs and cereal bowls. We just discovered a similar problem today! We have a Bosch 800 Plus (SHX7PT55UC) that has been installed for about 3 months. Cascade regular and Cascade complete both leave food on my dishes.Īlso, does she know how to clean out the filter? I didn't know for months that you can turn it and the whole screen and filter come out for cleaning. I've been trying different detergents and find that Finish tabs do the best job of cleaning but I do get residue in the filter from it. I would suggest having her not close the door tightly and run the dw at least every other day. I don't find this an issue at all as I love the condensation drying but I do run the dw frequently. I don't mean after running, I mean after the DW is cold and some dishes are loaded and the door is closed tightly. I find if the door is closed tightly for a while when you open it the air inside is warm and humid. I run my DW 1, 2 or 3 times a day but still I try not to close the door completely in between runs. I have a Bosch and agree like already said that their doors close tighter than some other DWs. I've never used mine since I'm adding things one or two at a time over a long period and don't find it convenient, but that's what it's intended for, and even if it's only used once a day, it could possibly work. When it's done, leave the dishwasher open and empty to let it dry out completely, for at least a day to try to kill the spores.Īfter that, either wipe the dishes down more thoroughly, or perhaps use a rinse and hold cycle. Run the dishwasher empty on high heat (sanitary cycle or whatever it's called), with some dishwasher cleaner, since the detergents don't have bleach anymore. Since your mother has a persistent problem, it's also probably a good idea to start fresh. I know you're supposed to leave food for the enzymes to eat, but I don't want mold, so I don't put in anything with a heavy residue and damp dishes to just sit there and stew in an air/moisture tight environment. Cheese, of course, is one of the easiest things to grow mold on. I sometimes don't run my DW for the better part of a week and did have mold on a cheesy knife once.
